This summer Ground Education teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach to revitalize their outdoor space, eventually transforming it into a small-scale urban farm. Working alongside the Club's 150+ kids, we will spend the school year exploring, planning, weeding, mulching, planting, tending, irrigating, and eventually harvesting and cooking seasonal meals with the results of our hard work. Older Club members will be the primary stewards of the new garden space, mentoring younger members along the way. Together, we hope to cultivate a space that empowers all Club members to connect with, think about, and enjoy the natural world. Stay tuned! We would like to thank the Long Beach Community Foundation, Lowe's, and the local Boy Scouts for their support and collaboration.
